Cabin choices
Looking at all the cabin options can be quite overwhelming as there are over 20 options on most of the ships. They are, however, split into four main categories: inside, outside, suites/balcony and solo. Each cabin is then given a letter grade based on their location. Child friendly?
Be aware that Fred Olsen do not accept children under the age of 2, and children under 11 cannot join if there are more than 72 continuous sea hours. All children over 11 are welcome on any cruise with their family, but be aware that while there are kids clubs, there are less child-friendly activities than other companies. If your little ones are constantly on the go, wanting to be entertained, this may not be the cruise line for you.

Watch out for the Saver Fare
90 days before departure, Fred Olsen release a Saver fare for a reduced price. This is a great way to save on your booking however, be aware that it does come with some limitations. You are not able to choose your cabin or dining times and the ticket is non-refundable and cannot be exchanged.
Get ahead
Excursions can get booked up quickly and so we recommend reserving using the ‘My Cruise’ section of the website as soon as possible after booking. They clearly detail the fitness level required, so read carefully to ensure each one is manageable for your party.
The drinks package
The drinks packages are available to buy before you embark (the cheapest option) or onboard, in the first 48 hours of your cruise. (Be aware that you cannot buy a package once onboard a ship sailing for less than five nights.) The package will only suit certain types of drinkers. If you favor wine, beer or draught soft drinks, these are all included. Cocktails, however, are only half price, while hot drinks (except in the Palm) and canned soft drinks are not covered.
Best dressed
When budgeting, factor in that Fred Olsen do impose a dress code for their evening meals and so you may wish to invest in some new outfits. The company keep this tradition of cruising alive. There will usually be two formal nights a week, where black tie is required, and smart-casual nights for the rest of the time sailing.
