Expert guide to private cruise islands in the Caribbean

Tips for activities
- If your looking for a quiet beach, ignore the first cove. There's beaches all around the island and those further away from the port are far quieter (although, be aware that they don't have facilities nearby).
- If you have a young family, a beach day is a must; the sand is beautiful and the sea is calm in the large coves. You'll struggle to find a better beach in the Caribbean.
- The swimming with pigs experience is completely unique to Grand Stirrup Cay and a must do for animal lovers.
Tips for food and drink
- Lunch for those with dietary requirements is quite limited and so it's probably best to head back to the ship for a wider choice.
- If you're looking for a lighter lunch and don't want the barbecue buffet, head to the taco bar instead.
- If you want a party vibe, head to the Bacardi bar for its resident DJ.
- The Patron bar serves an excellent Margherita!

Extra tips from us to you
- Be aware that the island doesn't have its own dock and so you'll need to tender across. Make sure you take everything you need for the day and leave extra time to travel if you have any bookings.
- The first tenders to the island are rarely full, so get going early if you don't want to queue.
- The tender is the perfect place to get that perfect snap of the boat or the island.
- Anyone can book a Silver Cove villa, they're not just for Haven members. They're pricey, but much more affordable if your sharing the cost with a large group.
- There's no WiFi on the island, but there is signal if you should need it.
- There are no lockers anywhere on the island so you're best to leave valuables on the ship.
- If you plan on buying anything from the marketplace, you'll need to bring US dollars.
- There are beach wheelchairs available for those with accessibility needs. Without one, it would be quite tricky to get around the island as there are lots of sandy areas to navigate.
- You'll need to bring beach towels with you as there aren't any on the island.
