Expert guide to private cruise islands in the Caribbean
Arriving at a private tropical island is often the highlight of a cruise holiday. With secluded coves, water parks and snorkeling trails being just a few highlights, there’s a wide array of excitement to be had. Each cruise company has created their own unique space in paradise.

Tips for activities
- The zip line and coaster get busy, so you're best off heading to them straight away to beat the queues.
- The tram is the easiest way to see the island and feels like a free excursion.
- Be aware that Labadee’s shore line is rocky, so avoid going in the sea barefoot. Some days, the sea can also be quite choppy, so be prepared to enjoy the other activity options instead.
- If the sea is calm, snorkeling is a great activity. You can rent equipment from the island or bring your own.

Tips for food and drink
- Labadee’s official drink is a must try. The Labadoozie fruit cocktail is a combination of pineapple, orange and papaya juice mixed with coconut cream and served with, or without, rum.
- All food is inclusive on the island. It's prepared on the ship and it's the same offering in all three restaurants (except in the exclusive Barefoot Beach) so it's best to head to the closest option.

Extra tips from us to you
- Take US dollars with you to tip staff and buy souvenirs from the artisanal sellers. Everything else can be brought with your SeaPass card.
- If you'd like to buy a souvenir, there are two options: the Artisan Village has stalls where you can chat to crafts people and haggle the price, whereas the Artisian Market is a shop with set prices.
- If you would like a cabana for the day, book this as early as possible as they often go before the ship even sets sail. If you're happy with a lounge chair instead, these are free to use.
- There are plenty of tram stations around the island to help you navigate between areas, but if you want to explore off the beaten track, the nature trails are another great way to get around and you'll see much more of the Labadee’s plants and animals.
- If you crave the peaceful side of the island at Columbus Cove, but are unable to walk that far from the dock, check out the free ferry ride that goes between the two.
- For cruisers needing a wheelchair, there are a limited amount available to transfer into on the island. These have larger wheels, meaning they work well on the sand and you can still have a great beach day.
